Assistant Store Manager, €30,000 (Swords)

Ensure the site operates efficiently and effectively and provides our customers with the very best customer service and fresh food offering at all times in a clean, safe environment. To support the Site Manager and take full responsibility for the site in Site Manager’s absence.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Supervisor position;
• Must have Level 1 & 2 knowledge of food safety;
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word);
• Working knowledge of the CBE system is desirable;
• Experience balancing cash/tills;• Excellent communication skills;
• Good delegation skills;

Customer Service
• Pro-actively deliver excellence in customer service at all times
• Ensure that customer satisfaction is the number one priority and consistently deliver and exceptional service by displaying I-CARE service excellence behaviors
• Professionally handle all customer queries and complaints in line with company policy, in a timely manner and escalate where appropriate
• Ensure all employees wear their full uniform, name badge and display a neat appearance at all times
• Achieve Service Excellence in mystery shop reports;

Store Operations and standards
• Support the Site Manager in the efficient day-to-day running of retail unit
• Ensure that the store reflects company’s standards of merchandising, presentation and Customer Care
• Achieve sales, margins, wastage targets• Implement the HACCP food safety management system
• Ensure and maintain the level of hygiene to the highest standard throughout the store and compliance by all staff members to the same
• Maintain Health and Safety standards on site, as per the Company Handbook and Safety Statement
• Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of the site
• Ensure all operational checklists are followed on a daily basis across the shop and forecourt
• Ensure full compliance with health and safety issues and legislation regarding the sale of cigarettes, tobacco, alcohol, lottery tickets, tablets (paracetamol) and adult magazines
• Competently deal with site visits from internal and external sources Team Management
• Competently manage and organize a team of staff
• Be approachable and a role model who leads by example and encourages teamwork,
•Develop and promote good communication between employees and management in a safe, respectful and inclusive environment
• Support Store Manager in the development and training of the team to required training standards
• Manage employee performance, giving regular feedback, recognition and encouragement
• Support the Store Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the store by prioritizing and delegating the workload appropriately
• Foster good working relationships among the team and with local community
• Ensure the adequate timekeeping and attendance of employees
• Manage employee rostering and annual leave and maintain accurate and secure records using the company Time Management System Stock Management
• Ensure accurate ordering of stock from PLOF
• Accept and process deliveries
• Merchandise shop area to ensure maximum performance of products
• Ensure promotions are organized and displayed properly
•Be vigilant at all times to prevent stock loss and waste
• Deal with shortages / overs and damaged goods
• Perform and manage weekly / monthly stock takes
• Take responsibility for returnable items
• Ensure all products available for purchase are scanning
• Ensure all products available for purchase have shelf edge labels
• Achieve the specified margins set out by Support Office
• Achieve Sales Targets as specified by Support Office

Back Office Management
• Ensure Daily Cash Reconciliation & Cash Control
• Ensure Daily Bank lodgments are carried out
• Manage cash discrepancies and report to Management Accountant
• Ensure accurate prime data entry – delivery dockets, invoices, cash reconciliations, bank account reconciliations, wetstock data
• Creditor’s Control
• Debtor’s Control
• Sales Reporting
• Follow up on IOU/Drive Offs and reporting on outstanding IOU/Drive Offs to Management Accountant Operational Problems
• Deal with breakdowns / system failure and reporting update to support office
• Organize contractor call outs and reporting update to support office
• Communicate directly with Sales Representatives
• Communicating directly with Management Health, Safety and Welfare Management
• Assume role of H&S Officer for designated site
• Strictly comply with standards and safe working practices as outlined in The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005 and subsequent Regulations, Acts or Amendments
• Strictly comply with all policies, practices and procedures, outlined by the company. Health and Safety Management System and Safety Statement
• Participate in all/any Health, Safety and Welfare Training offered
• Utilize all / any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) available / offered
• Actively look for hazards when carrying out duties and take appropriate action to remove and/or report to Manager
• Operate all machinery and equipment as per manufacturer’s instructions
• Maintain security awareness at all times and escalate where appropriate
